Common Types and Applications of Inorganic Fiber Insulation Materials

Time:

Among thermal insulation materials, inorganic fiber thermal insulation materials have gradually become the most commonly used thermal insulation materials due to their excellent properties such as lightweight, low cost, and high temperature resistance.

Aluminum silicate fiber insulation material

Aluminum silicate fiber has many advantages, such as good heat resistance, low density, low heat storage, sound absorption, elasticity, good thermal insulation performance, resistance to mechanical vibration, and electrical insulation. Its working temperature reaches 1200°C and the thermal conductivity range at 0.03-0.22W/(m·K). After further special processing, it can be made into aluminum silicate fiber board, aluminum silicate fiber felt and other thermal insulation materials. Aluminum silicate fiber products have been used in many fields, such as industrial kiln insulation projects, etc., and are widely used in thermal insulation equipment in metallurgy, machinery, electric power, and chemical industries. At the same time, the new aluminum silicate fiber composite material can be used as a thermal insulation material and used in thermal protection systems such as the insulation layer of rocket engine components and the insulation layer of oxygen generators.

Mullite fiber insulation material

Mullite fiber has the advantages of high strength, high modulus, high temperature resistance, creep resistance and thermal shock resistance. It is used at a temperature of 1500-1600°C and is widely used in aerospace, military and high-tech civilian fields. Currently, mullite bricks are the most widely used mullite-based thermal insulation material and are often used as lining materials for high-temperature heating furnaces.

Alumina fiber insulation material

Alumina fiber, with Al2O3 as the main component, is a polycrystalline ceramic inorganic fiber. Its main properties are as follows: diameter 10-20μm, density 2.7-4.2g/cm3, tensile strength 1.4-2.45GPa, tensile modulus 190-385GPa, and the maximum service temperature is 1100-1400°C. Alumina fiber is widely used in industry, military, civilian and other fields.

Zirconia fiber insulation material

Zirconia fiber is a polycrystalline inorganic fiber with the characteristics of high temperature resistance, high strength, and low thermal expansion coefficient. Its melting point is 2700°C. It can still maintain its fiber shape at a temperature of 2480°C. The thermal conductivity is 0.19w /m·K at 1000K. Zirconia fiber is widely used in thermal insulation of high-temperature furnaces.
